Magnesium chloride is widely used in industrial, food and medical field.
It is mainly used for dust control and road stabilization, and also for low-temperature de-icing ofhighways, sidewalks, and parking lots.
In addition to the production of magnesium metal, magnesium chloride also is used for a variety of other applications: fertilizer, mineral supplement for animals, wastewater treatment, wallboard, artificial seawater, feed supplement, textiles, paper, fireproofingagents, cementsand refrigeration brine.
In food industry magnesium chloride is usually used as curing agent, nutritional supplement, texture modifier, dough improver, also as food additives, protein coagulants, snow melting agents, refrigerants, dustproof agents, refractory materials, etc. Tofu made with brine (magnesium chloride aqueous solution) is more tender in quality and fresher in taste than that made with gypsumetc.
In industry, as the important inorganic raw material, magnesium chloride is used to produce magnesium compounds such s magnesium carbonic acid, magnesium hydroxide and magnesium oxide, etc; in metallurgy industry, it is used to produce metal magnesium, liquid chlorine and high-purity magnesia; in construction, it is important material in the production of light construction materials, etc.
