APPLACATION
CAUSTIC SODA
Used in the manufacture of chemicals, followed by papermaking, aluminum refining, tungsten refining.rayon and soap manufacturing, the production of dyes, plastics, pharmaceuticals and organic intermediates, the regeneration of old rubber, the production of metallic sodium, water electrolysis and inor- ganic salt production.
Daily Chemistry
Advanced fatly acid salts produced by the reaction of caustic soda with fat and vegetable oils are the main components of soap. Soap and other types of washing products still account for about 15 % of the demand for caustic soda
NaOH + HCl = NaCl + H2O
2NaOH + H2SO4=Na2SO4+2H2O
NaOH + HNO3=NaNO3+H2O
Similarly, its solution can undergo metadecomposition reaction with salt solution:
NaOH + NH4Cl = NaCl +NH3·H2O
2NaOH + CuSO4= Cu(OH)2↓+ Na2SO4
2NaOH+MgCl2= 2NaCl+Mg(OH)2↓
