Potassium hydroxide, also known as "caustic potassium", has the chemical formula KOH. 

It is a common strong alkaline inorganic compound, often in the form of white flakes. It is easily soluble in water and ethanol, releases strong heat during dissolution, and easily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from the air.
Used as an analytical reagent in chemical industries such as soap making, papermaking, textiles, printing and dyeing, pharmaceuticals, electroplating, and organic synthesis.

Potassium hydroxide is a strong base that can be completely dissolved in water to produce a potassium hydroxide solution. The solution is alkaline and can neutralize acidic substances. Non combustible and highly corrosive. When encountering water and water vapor, a large amount of heat is released, forming a corrosive solution. Reacts with acid to neutralize and release heat.
